Meet Mark Mulligan

OK, here's where I tell you about all the world tours I've headlined. About stadium shows with standing room only crowds chanting my name and holding up lighters while I decide if I really want to play a third encore. About my hit records that have knocked everyone from the Beatles to Britney off the charts. There's one slight problem. I don't have any.

And God knew JUST what he was doing when he denied me fame and fortune. Cause I ended up south of the border, singing and writing songs, raising my kids in a place I love, spending time on the beach instead of in traffic, singing for people who dance to my tunes one night and the next day join me for charitable work with the "Castaway Kids". Just think, had I scored that hit record, I could be in rehab by now. Or maybe off trashing a hotel room and getting arrested for the tenth time.

I can't complain about life as an ex-pat in Mexico. Beats the heck out of Nashville . And the tacos rock. So I won't be scoring that Lexus with Grammy endorsements? Another tortilla, please.

So rather than con you with a glowing bio about me (that we all know I wrote myself), I'd rather tell you about my family, starting with grandparents who after 70 years of marriage were more in love than ever, followed by my parents who keep that tradition alive with fifty-something years together, followed by seven of the coolest brothers and sisters you could ever grow up with.

How I was blessed with 7 years of marriage to a beautiful woman you hear about in many of my songs, Adela (R.I.P.)  She left behind two awesome kids, Marcos (now 10) and Luis (6)  Watching them play on the beach while I sing... just doesn't get any better for THIS kid, who grew up far from the ocean in Arizona, but whose heart belonged to the Sea of Cortez since he was a boy.

Then, Elsa entered into our lives, and one day she became my wife and mother to my two boys. Then, a little over a year ago, little Jose Mulligan popped into the picture. Here he is!

And now, another on the way! Welcome to that wacky, wild world of Catholicism! Come April, life is about to get even more exciting. (And expensive!)

I know, I was supposed to tell you about my music. So if a resume of hit records or sold out world tours is what you're looking for, I'd be happy to refer you to someone else's bio. My musician brother David, for example. (He lives in a van and could use the dough even more than I can.)

However, if you're still reading this, here's the deal. I'm not a bar guy. I have no interest in singing a love song from the heart while some biker is puking on a pool table. I'm simply someone who loves to sing for folks who want meaning and heart in their music. Who want to hear about sunshine and beaches and sailboats and cantinas and romance and all the fun stuff that life south of the border inspires one to write about.

If that sounds like the kind of fellow you'd like to listen to, then I hope to see you at a show!  If you happen to pick up a CD or two, muchas gracias. Thanks to a lot of great people out there, I've put out 11 albums, which is about 10 more than I ever thought I would! God bless you amigos... see you on the beach. Mark
